On the night of May 11th, I had the pleasure of attending Lizzy McAlpine's concert at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, and it was an unforgettable experience. The venue was packed with fans eagerly waiting for

the soulful and introspective singer-songwriter to take the stage. As a fan myself, I was excited to see her perform live, and she did not disappoint. Here is my detailed review of the magical night.

The Performance

The stage is set in an apartment setting. Complete with paintings and movie posters. The audience screams as a girl with only her guitar in hand walks out. Make no mistake, Lizzy McAlpine has arrived. She started the show with her hit song "an ego thing," which set the tone for the rest of the night. Throughout the concert, she showcased her exceptional musical ability, switching effortlessly between the guitar and the piano. Her band was also impressive, seamlessly transitioning between different songs and complementing McAlpine’s vocals perfectly. Her songs were deeply personal and introspective, with themes of love, loss, and self-discovery.

creating a sense of unity and connection. Lizzy's ability to switch between playing the guitar and the piano seamlessly was truly impressive. Her songs are deeply personal and introspective, and you can feel the raw emotion in her voice. It's no surprise that the audience sang along to every word, as Lizzy's music has a way of bringing people together. The Wiltern in Los Angeles was the perfect setting for Lizzy's performance. The intimate atmosphere allowed for a genuine connection between the artist and the audience. The dim lighting and cozy stage made it feel like we were all part of something special. The crowd was respectful and engaged, and Lizzy's frequent interactions with her fans created a sense of community. The set lasted a little over an hour. She also treated the audience to many unreleased songs, including a heartfelt ballad, “broken glass”, that showcased her versatility as a songwriter.

The Encore

As the concert came to an end, the audience erupted into applause, begging for an encore. Lizzy stayed on stage and played the last three songs of the show which left the crowd in awe. The songs showcased Lizzy's powerful vocals and poetic songwriting, leaving the audience on a high note.

The choice of Olivia Barton as an opener seems more than a little intentional: The evening’s two empowered performers are living proof that talent, self-belief, and persistence, even in the face of seemingly overwhelming negativity, can lead to the stage of Los Angeles’ The Wiltern. From the moment Barton took the stage, she captivated the audience with her energy and stage presence. Her voice was even better live than on her recordings, and she effortlessly hit every note with power and emotion. One of the highlights of the night was Barton's performance of her hit single "If I Were a Fish". The crowd sang along to every word and Barton's passion for the song was evident in every note.

Overall, Lizzy McAlpine's concert was an unforgettable experience that left a lasting impression on me. Her soulful music, combined with the intimate atmosphere of the Wiltern, created a sense of warmth and connection that will stay with me for a long time.
